For this week’s class, we went on zoom and got to “choose our own adventure”. I thought this class’s concept was really cool, as it gave students the freedom and autonomy to explore different resources and tools in a way that a regular classroom wouldn’t allow. I really liked how we got to make the best out of being in a zoom class and got to work through designs and concepts on our own time and speed. Being back in a zoom class gave me some bad memories of last semester, but it was also a lot less overwhelming and anxitey inducing knowing that I know all my classmates and the teacher since we have class in person together everyday. That being said, I am so grateful to be able to have classes in person, they are so much fun actually feel like you are in school. Getting familiar and comfortable with zoom is a good skill to have though since as a teacher you might need to connect with your students in other ways and having the ability to do that from outside the classroom is an important tool.
Thinking about the topic of zoom, I chose to go to Canva and create my own virtual classroom. This could be a really fun zoom background to make your students more excited to be on zoom with you, and it could also be a great way to send out information to parents or students about upcoming events. Firstly I watched the tutorial on how to create a virtual classroom, then I got started on my own. It was so fun to find cute details to add and discover new ways to present materials in the classroom. It took me longer than I would like to admit to finally get my classroom finished, I kept accidently deleting things! I also figured out how to add Bitmoji as a chrome extension and I added my Bitmoji into my class. Having this on my computer now, I could add my Bitmoji to more projects as a way to personialize the content. Something that I though was cool was how you could add hyperlinks into words so that you could add websites to the image in a simple and easy way. I think that this could be a great way to send out homework everyday to your students!

Hey Lexi,
I love your virtual classroom! I may have got wayy too carried away with my classroom as I ended up making two but oh well! I love how you brought up how this could be used to send home homework. You could even have one for each season so students don’t get bored of it. Great post!

OOOH yes, such a good idea for assigning homework! Super engaging, and I don’t think students would mind checking out the virtual classroom for assignments if you keep changing it up like Jessica suggested! I think students would think it was super fun to see what has changed since they had last visited!
